Electronics & Music Maker or E&MM
magazine was first published in March 1981 by
electronic component supplier
Maplin Electronics Ltd. In its early years the
magazine usually published a good range of DIY
projects and related articles, but thereafter it became more of a Music equipment and
technology magazine with very few DIY articles. The
magazine was sold and the name was changed to Music Technology
in November 1986 with a snarky introduction,
divorcing itself from the "fiberglass paperclips" of
Maplin.
We have confusing information on the subsequent
creation of "Mix". Wikipedia says
Music Technology
changed its name to The Mix in July 1994.Yet
we have an October, 1986 "first issue" which shows
that Music Technology
and Mix were both created in 1994
and operated in parallel for a decade, We assume
that the two merged in 1994. The Mix
ceased publication in February 2001.
See The Mix on its own
page.
